Summer 2008

I have had a fantastic summer with my friends, and I wanted to thank you all for the memories! Here are a few highlights of our summer! I love you all and I'm thankful that each and every one of you are my friends! :)

Dominic is 9 months old!

This is my new favorite picture of him. His mommy and grandma took him to the zoo last week! :)

I survived! :)

My surgery went great! I actually wasn't too nervous, just really excited! I remember being wheeled into the surgery room and seeing at least 10 people rushing around in chaos kind of. I remember asking my very cute anesthesologist if all these people were going to see me naked for the next four hours? He said, yes we see naked people everyday! And the next thing I remember is waking up and seeing Gabe and my mom standing by my bed. I couldn't remember if I already had my surgery or not. Until I looked down! YAY!

My doctor told Gabe they were in the same zip code now! :)

I still have a lot of recovery and healing to do, but each day gets better and better! I am still weak, sore, and extremley tired. I am having a really hard time getting comfortable, but all things considered I am doing wonderful!

Thank you everyone who sent well wishes, cards, gifts, flowers, and cookies! :) I was amazed at how much support and love I have recieved from all of you! Thank you again!

Tommorow is my BIG Day!

Surgery is scheduled for 10:30 and I should be done by about 2:30! Wish me lots of luck! :)

Two Weeks from Today!

I will be boob-free. Well not excatly boob-free but hopefully close! :)

I saw my doctor yesterday and we went over everything one more time! I got meausred for my compression garments. He gave me my prescriptions to get filled ahead of time. I was given some funky smelling pink soap that I have to bathe with the night before and the morning of surgery. My surgery will be at 9:45 am and will last 4 full hours. That's the part that scares me the most. 4 hours is a long time! Assuming everything goes fine I will get to come home that night and an inhome nurse will be visiting me!

A friend recently told me her plastic surgery was life-changing and she would do it again in a heartbeat. I hope I feel the exact same way! :)

Monday....

I am really worried about my dad, and I am on my way to the hospital because my grandpa is having sugery today. So I knew some pictures of Dominic would help cheer me up! Isn't he such a doll baby? I love him!!!! :)

Shelby!

It has been one week today since we had to give Shelby away. She went to a really good home in Akron where she will has 3 brothers who are all labs, an inground pool just for the dogs, and 2 acres fenced in for her to run! The family is a husband and wife who were never able to have children, so they raise labs instead! Although we know Shelby is in a much better place, it's still very hard and emotional on us. She is adjusting quite well to her new home and her new owner has promised to keep us updated!

Last night Gabe and I went to dinner, and then came in early and relaxed and watched TV. It was really hard not having her there pacing around us, running, and panting like a crazy dog. I am still sad, but hopefully each day will get better. I'm finally not crying everytime I think about her, but my heart still hurts.

Afghanstan Pictures!

My dad sent me lots of pictures from Afghanstan this week, so I thought I would share a few. The first picture is from the bazaar where people shop. The second is a picture of a recent Taliban attack. The third is a picture of the Army Housing. This isn't where dad lives, but it is typical of where our soldiers are living. And the last picture is a view of off base from dad's apartment.

Technology....is Wonderful! :)

This morning I got on Yahoo messenger and hooked up to my dad's webcam . I got to see and talk to him live from Afghanstan. He gave me a tour of his living quarters, which according to him is "very nice" although it is only 30X20! I guess it beats a 20 man tent! It really is amazing that I can see him through a computer with him being so far away! Gotta love technology!

Jennifer Lopez hit with $5M lawsuit over dog assault

A flight attendant claims Jennifer Lopez's guard dog chomped her leg on a plane trip two years ago, and now she wants to take a $5 million bite out of the singer's pocketbook.
Lisa Wilson, 40, filed a suit in Brooklyn Federal Court Thursday, alleging the attack caused her to fall and suffer back injuries that prevent her from working anymore.
The dog-bites-woman tale began July, 3, 2006, when NetJets, a private airline company, assigned Wilson to work a flight taking J.Lo to Burbank Airport in California, the suit says.
Wilson says Lopez boarded a Gulfstream IV jet at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, L.I., with Floyd, a German shepherd described in the manifest as "a well-behaved guard dog."
Just in case, Wilson, of Mary Esther, Fla., says in the court papers, Lopez gave her some instructions on how to act around Floyd.
But the suit alleges that 90 minutes into the flight, Wilson walked past Floyd, and he responded by "attacking her and biting her pant leg."
In an attempt to get away, Wilson says she "twisted and fell," injuring her lower back so badly she had to undergo surgery last year and no longer can work - "at great economic loss."
The suit contends Lopez, who has an estate on Long Island with hubby Marc Anthony and their twins, is "absolutely liable for all injuries" because she "should have known the dog had vicious propensities" and kept it muzzled and leashed.
Wilson also is seeking damages from Lopez's company Nuyorican Productions, based in Los Angeles.
Wilson couldn't be reached, but her lawyer, William Cafaro, said his client wasn't out to capitalize on J.Lo's celebrity and had made attempts to settle the case that were ignored.
Lopez's publicist didn't return a call for comment, and an employee at Nuyorican said only, "We are not obligated" to talk about the suit.

Two Things

1. I am really excited for October 3rd! Myself and a group of my friends are taking an overnight road trip to Cleveland to go to the NKOTB concert! Yes, we are all in our late 20's; but we are all very "pumped up" to see the New Kids again! :) I really need to find something fun to wear! Unfortunately for me, Mom said, we didn't save any of my fan gear from back in the day!

2. Why is it so hard to find cotton nightgowns that zip or button all the way up? Maybe because people don't wear them anymore, but I am on a mission. I cannot sleep in shorts or pants, hence why I need a nightgown. My normal t-shirt/cami and underwear are not going to work for my post surgery! Keep your eyes open for me! If you see something that will work, please let me know! :) I feel like I have looked everywhere!

Great News!

My surgery is covered by insurance, and is scheduled for Wednesday August 6th! :) So relieved, and excited!

Oh...and most importantly!

For those of you who don't already know, we are NOT moving to NC! YAY!!!!!!!!! :)

It's been a long time!

I have been majorly slacking in updating our blog! I realize it's been since Febuary...EEEK! I promise I am going to try to keep up with it better! :)

Here is a quick rundown of what we have been up to!

In Feburary we went to NYC for a mini-vaca with our friends Steph & Erick. We had a great time!

In March we spent a week in Navarre, Florida where I grew up. Gabe had never been, so I was dying to show him the beautiful Emerald Coast!

In April my dad left for six months to Afghanstan. I miss him a lot! Our good friends Chuck & Kelli also got married in April! Gabe was the best-man! Their wedding was beautiful and a lot of fun! :)

In May Gabe and I celebrated our First Wedding Anniversary!

Now, we are to June. I turned 27 on the 6th, and Gabe turns 27 in two days! WOW, we are getting OLD! The big 30 is quickly approaching! :(

Our Sweet Nephew!

Dominic is growing up so fast! He is such a good baby, always smiling, and happy! He will 7 months old on Wednesday (Gabe's Birthday)!!! It feels like just yesterday that Kristine was pregnant! :)
